Core Introduction

Celebrating a decade of shaping global architectural discourse, Volume Zero proudly introduces Tiny House 2026 — their 31st international architecture competition. The competition aims to celebrate individuality, reimagine sustainability, and exalt simple, innovative yet resourceful living. The total prize fund is $5,000.

A home is a space that is intimate to all of us. It goes beyond an everyday function of being a physical shelter; a home connects with its users at a personal and emotional level. Our humble abodes are being redefined with every passing day — homes today are versatile entities, doubling up as offices, play areas, work-out zones, spaces for interaction and recreation, and also being an abode for our furry friends. A home is no longer just a place you live in but a place that lives with you.
Participants are invited to design a Tiny House for 2 people, exploring how architecture can create thoughtful, efficient, and inspiring living environments within a minimal footprint. Proposals can be mobile, stationary, floating, suspended, modular, or adaptable — encouraging innovative concepts that respond to both users and the surrounding context.
