Open to students, architects, designers, artists, engineers, urban planners, makers, activists, and anyone interested in architectural design. Participants may compete individually or in teams. There are no restrictions on nationality or country of residence.

Core Introduction
Tactical Urbanism NOW! 2026 is an architecture competition launched by TerraViva Competitions, calling on architects, planners, designers, and creatives from all disciplines to design tactical interventions that prototype new ways of adapting public spaces to everyday urban challenges. This edition invites participants to explore how temporary, lightweight interventions can act as powerful tools for testing ideas, responding to local conditions, and rethinking the future of public space. The competition encourages designers to work with overlooked, underused, or contested urban spaces — from traffic-dominated streets and residual plots to overheated plazas, forgotten pathways, and fragmented public areas. Rather than fixed solutions, the competition looks for proposals conceived as prototypes: flexible, testable, and rooted in real urban life. Participants are free to choose any location in the world as the setting for their tactical project. Key themes include: People-First Streets (reimagining car-oriented spaces as social, walkable, and shared environments), Community Co-Creation (projects actively involving residents and local stakeholders), Climate Adaptation (tactical responses to heat, rain, flooding, or lack of shade through lightweight and reversible solutions), and Modularity & Flexibility (systems that can be assembled, disassembled, and adapted over time). The jury will evaluate proposals based on originality of concept, flexibility and multi-functionality, creative regeneration of the context, social impact, use of tactical techniques, and graphic representation. Submission requirements include two A1 panels (594 x 841 mm, horizontal) and a brief text describing the proposal.
