Japan Package Design Student Award 2026

  • Submission Category / Scope: Package design for consumer products, including food, confectionery, beverages, cosmetics, household goods, stationery, pharmaceuticals, electrical products, and more. There is no restriction on product genre. First-round judging is based on concept and rough sketches; second/final judging uses mock-up photos or 3D data images.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must live in Japan and be enrolled in a university or vocational school at the time of entry. They must have no past or current professional design activity. High school students are not eligible. Nationality and field of study are unrestricted. Individual entries only; group submissions are not accepted.
  • Entry Fee: JPY 1,500 per work, tax included. Convenience-store or bank-transfer payments may incur an additional JPY 220 fee.
  • Awards & Benefits: Grand Prize 1 winner; Gold, Silver, and Bronze 2 winners each; several Corporate Awards and Special Jury Awards; around 80 Excellent Works; selected works expected to be around 30% of total entries. Main winners receive certificates and trophies. Winning works are scheduled to be published in Package Design in Japan 2027. The program also plans company training and exchange opportunities for awarded students.
  • Core Introduction: Japan Package Design Student Award 2026 is a JPDA student competition for package design, held under the theme “WOW!”. It invites students in Japan to create original package designs with fresh ideas, unseen expressions, and sharp concepts. Judging emphasizes creativity, social relevance, aesthetics, and the final-round perspectives of Power, Message, and Sympathy.
