Core Introduction

The BBA Artist Prize is an annual international open competition organized by BBA Gallery, a contemporary art gallery based in Berlin, Germany. With no restrictions on theme, medium, or artistic background, the prize aims to discover and promote artists demonstrating visual excellence, storytelling, conceptual thinking, technical craftsmanship, and subject depth. A jury of industry professionals—including international curators, collectors, and gallerists—evaluates submissions across diverse mediums such as painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, printmaking, textiles, video art, and performance. Shortlisted works are exhibited at BBA Gallery in Berlin and offered for sale to collectors, curators, and the gallery's global network on a standard 50/50 commission split. The gallery insures all works on site against damage or theft during the exhibition, while shortlisted artists are responsible for shipping and insurance costs to and from Berlin, with logistical guidance, customs advice, and trusted shipping partner recommendations provided by the gallery. Beyond the prize, BBA Gallery runs the BBA Photography Prize, the One Shot Award, and the Made in Berlin Art Award. The headline reward for the first-prize winner is a solo exhibition at BBA Gallery in Berlin, offering a significant career-launching opportunity.
