Core Introduction: Organized by the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA), Concrete in Life is now in its eighth year and tasks entrants worldwide with photographing concrete in their lives for a chance to win cash prizes of up to US$10,000. Over a hundred thousand people have entered the competition over the years, capturing images from across the world. The organizer notes that concrete is one of the most widely used man-made products on the planet — present in our houses and offices, roads and pavements, the bridges that connect us, the wind farms that provide energy, and the sea barriers that protect us; as the sustainable building material of choice, it provides safe, durable and resilient structures and underpins renewable energy infrastructure. Entries are submitted directly through the GCCA website via the online entry form, with each photograph requiring a title, a description of up to 100 words, and the location where it was taken. Technical requirements: high-resolution images in JPG, JPEG or PNG format, with a maximum file size of 15 MB. Entries are assessed on photographic impact, creativity, composition, lighting and technical quality. This year's judges include Chris George, Content Director at Digital Camera World, and Thomas Guillot, Chief Executive of the GCCA. Shortlisted photographs also take part in a public vote. In the 2025/26 edition, the overall winner was "Pillars Across the Sea" by Celbert Palaganas of Cebu City, Philippines, and the People's Vote winner was "Rhythm on Concrete" by Aung Chan Thar.
