Submission Categories: No separate categories. The prize invites works that observe, depict, or respond to people, in any two-dimensional medium, style, or technique that can be considered drawing.

Eligibility: Open worldwide to artists, designers, makers, amateurs, and professionals aged 18 or over. Works must have been completed within the last three years. Each entrant may submit up to three works. Works must not exceed 1.8 m along the longest dimension. Works may be offered for sale or marked as not for sale.

Entry Fee: Standard entry fee: £20 per work. Artists aged 35 or under: £12 per work, with proof of age required.

Awards & Benefits: The main RP Drawing Prize offers £5,000. The De Laszlo Foundation Award offers £1,000 for an accomplished artist aged 35 or under. The Daler-Rowney Prize provides £500 worth of artist materials. The Almenara Collection Award offers an artist residency in Spain. Up to around 120 selected works will be exhibited at Hull University Art Gallery. Selected works may be available for sale, with potential portrait-commission exposure through FBA Art Consultancy.

Core Introduction: The RP Drawing Prize: Revealing the Human is an international open call by The Royal Society of Portrait Painters. It explores how drawing can reveal, question, and expand the idea of the human and the portrait. The prize welcomes traditional, experimental, conceptual, and observational approaches, making it especially relevant for artists and creative practitioners working with people, portraiture, the body, identity, and human experience.
