Content Vienna 2026 – Competition for Digital Design
- Games (digital games and playful media)
- Augmented, Extended and Virtual Reality (AR, XR, VR)
- Animation, Visual Effects, 360° Video
- Digital Design for Health (creative digital projects related to healthcare)
- Interactive Narrative Formats
- Web and Mobile Applications (including Blockchain/Web3)
- Platforms for Digital Content Publishing or Other Digital Distribution Channels
- Serial Online Content
- Digital Applications for Wearable IT
- Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
- Quantum Computing (e.g., visualization of quantum phenomena)
Developers, studios, startups, companies, as well as private individuals or associations implementing creative digital projects are eligible. Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Place of residence, registered office, or business address is located in Vienna
- The project is predominantly developed or produced in Vienna
- Vienna is a significant thematic or creative reference point of the project
Each applicant or company may submit only one project.
- 5 production grants of €10,000 each
- 1 special prize "Digital Design for Health" (in cooperation with the Open Innovation in Science Center of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft) worth €10,000
- Bonus of €1,000 for awarded projects led by women
- Up to 5 projects may receive the "Content Vienna Connecting" special prize – participation at South by Southwest (SXSW), in cooperation with WKO Außenwirtschaft – Creative Industries
- Finalists will be notified in October 2026 and invited to present their projects to the jury
- Assessment criteria: Creative quality and/or innovation potential, qualification and professionalism of the project team, implementation planning, project impact
Content Vienna is an annual digital content competition initiated by the Vienna Business Agency to support creative professionals in Vienna in implementing outstanding digital content projects. The competition spans multiple cutting-edge digital fields including games, XR/VR, animation, AI, blockchain, and digital health, and is assessed by an independent jury. Awarded projects receive not only financial support but also international exposure through the SXSW partnership, along with accompanying networking and service offerings, strengthening Vienna's position as an international hub for creative digital media. In 2026, a new "Digital Design for Health" special prize and a bonus for women-led projects have been introduced.
