The competition calls for the design of a new Christian church in Altadena, California, a region where multiple religious buildings were lost in wildfires in early 2025 . Participants are challenged to rethink sacred architecture as a sensory, symbolic, and communal experience, envisioning a new place of worship for 400 people where the mystical meets the social and the liturgical engages with everyday life .
