The deadlines for the 2026 competition are as follows :

  • 10% Early Bird discount until: September 7th, 2025
  • 5% Extended Early Bird discount until: October 31st, 2025
  • Regular Deadline: January 11th, 2026
  • Final Deadline: March 8th (a 10% late fee applies until April 26th, 2026)
  • Program Close Date: April 26th, 2026

Competition Category

  • Furniture Design of the Year (Professional)
  • Emerging Furniture Designer of the Year (Student)
  • Innovation Center Award (Focuses on a different topic each year, with a cash prize for the winner to realize a prototype or start production)
  • Special Award for Accessibility Design (For designs that make furniture more accessible to persons with disabilities)

Eligibility

  • Open to anyone aged 18+ residing anywhere in the world .
  • Features Professional and Student categories, which are judged separately .
  • Entries can be conceptual designs, in-progress, or completed projects no more than 5 years old .

Entry Fee Paid .

  • Professional: CHF 220 (approx. US$235)
  • Student: CHF 100 (approx. US$110)
  • A 50% discount is available for the same entry in additional categories .
  • There are no further fees for winning .

Prizes/Awards

  • Winners receive the SIT Awards trophy, considerable publicity, promotion, and media coverage .
  • The winner of the Innovation Center will receive a cash prize to help them realize a prototype or start production .

Core Introduction

The SIT Furniture Design Award aims to recognize, celebrate, and share good furniture design with a global audience . The award is open to both professionals and students, with judging criteria that include innovation, aesthetics, functionality, durability, and social impact . The competition also features an Innovation Center Award and a special award for accessibility design to encourage innovation in specific areas .
