2026 Wenzhou International Design Biennial
- Organizer: the Publicity Department of the CPC Wenzhou Municipal Committee and Zhejiang College of Security Technology, and organized by Wenzhou Cultural Industry Promotion Association. The Movable-type Printing special competition is commissioned by the Ruian Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports.
- Deadline: June 30, 2026, 24:00 Beijing Time, based on the official call for works.
- Submission Categories:
- Product Design: emergency/security design and fashion/culture design, including hardware, software, integrated products, cultural products, heritage derivatives, packaging and logos.
- Environmental Art: green cities, smart cities, cultural cities, commercial/living spaces, community renewal, rural revitalization, homestays and cultural halls.
- Poster Design: traditional or dynamic posters around the themes of technology, culture, ecology and sustainable urban development.
- Cultural & Creative Product Special Competition: “Movable-type Printing Creation Design / Public Innovation Plan,” including lifestyle products, educational kits and public art/facilities.
- Eligibility: Open worldwide to enterprises, universities, institutions and individuals. Each category has Professional and Student groups. The Professional group is for designers, practitioners and design enthusiasts; the Student group is for full-time students in art colleges and universities, including undergraduate, master’s, doctoral and vocational students. Entries must be original. Professional product entries must have been launched within two years or provide a functional prototype by final judging; student product entries need a design model by final judging. Poster and environmental art works must be created after June 2024.
- Entry Fee: No registration fee. Participants cover logistics, insurance, customs clearance and related participation costs.
- Awards & Benefits:
- Product Design: Professional group Gold RMB 10,000, Silver RMB 8,000, Bronze RMB 5,000; Student group Gold RMB 3,000, Silver RMB 2,000, Bronze RMB 1,000; several Excellence Awards.
- Environmental Art: Professional group Gold RMB 5,000, Silver RMB 3,000, Bronze RMB 1,000; Student group Gold RMB 2,000, Silver RMB 1,000, Bronze RMB 800; several Excellence Awards.
- Poster Design: same prize structure as Environmental Art.
- Movable-type Printing Special Competition: Gold RMB 10,000, Silver RMB 5,000, Bronze RMB 3,000, Design Award RMB 1,000.
- Winners receive certificates and pre-tax prize money. Qualified winning works may be collected by the committee with an official collection certificate, and works will be exhibited during the 2026 Wenzhou International Design Biennial.
- Core Introduction: The 6th Wenzhou International Design Biennial 2026 centers on “Technology Secures People’s Life, Intelligence Creates a Beautiful City.” It positions AI as a key driver in the full design chain and encourages cross-disciplinary innovation across culture, technology, fashion, industry and economy, using design to support Wenzhou’s urban future and industrial transformation.
