2026 Infrastructure As a System – Student Competition

  • Organizer: InfraVision Think Tank, founded by Vauban IP with the support of Altermind.
  • Deadline: Expression of interest / registration deadline: 30 June 2026; final submission deadline: 31 July 2026, 23:59 Paris time;
  • Submission Category: A single student competition with no separate category tracks. The theme is “Infrastructure as a System: Rethink the Future.” Teams must propose a fictional infrastructure project and address project vision, future scenarios, risks, adaptation levers, system relationships, implementation roadmap, budget logic, and impact indicators. Submission format: 30-40 slide presentation + written abstract + visual representations.
  • Eligibility: Open worldwide to students, including PhD candidates; recent 2025 graduates are also eligible. Participants may enter individually or in teams of 1-6 members. All disciplines are welcome, with multidisciplinary backgrounds encouraged, including architecture, urban planning, engineering, complex systems, economics, public policy, and computer science. Participants must be at least 18, or have parental/legal guardian consent.
  • Entry Fee: Free;
  • Awards & Benefits: 1st Prize €7,000, 2nd Prize €5,000, 3rd Prize €3,000. The jury will shortlist 10 finalists and select three winners. Participants can receive expert feedback, raise their profile, and potentially have their work promoted through InfraVision channels.
  • Core Introduction: This competition asks students to treat infrastructure as a dynamic system rather than a fixed object. Proposals should respond to climate pressure, technological disruption, regulatory shifts, and uncertain demand, creating infrastructure concepts that remain resilient, adaptive, sustainable, and valuable across future scenarios.
